Why is the State Admin Fee Non-Refundable?
The State Referee Committee is made up of volunteers who donate hundreds of hours of their time every year. But even though they are volunteers, it takes time and money to operate the website, return phone calls, pay for credit card processing, purchase office supplies, Law books, badges, and so forth to run the state referee program. We understand that people may change their mind, and will refund up to 100% of the USSF portion of registration fee (dependent on when the refund is requested and subject to our Terms and Conditions) if a person chooses to back out of the certification process. However, the $20 state administration fee is non-refundable because of the effort needed to manage the site once a person commits to the certification process... even if that person then subsequently decides to not certify.
If you are unsure as to whether you want to become a referee, we highly encourage that you wait until you are sure before paying registration monies for the coming season. The repetitive statements of the refund policy are meant to make users acutely aware that once you submit payment, you have requested services be rendered to help you certify to become a referee, and there is a minimum cost of those services even if you choose to not complete the process.
